Too Far Gone..

Moms. Don’t. Give. Up.

How often do we feel depleted. Weary. Unheard. Ineffective. Sad. Alone.
It’s exhausting keeping up appearances and I find such encouragement when talking with another mom who’s real. You know the ones who “are who they are” and they have no need to make excuses for anything in their life. They own their chaos and wear it securely for all the world to see. Church ladies become experts at mannequin-ing themselves (yes, I just made up that word!)

Yesterday evening a ‘church lady’ met me in the parking lot. Pain was deeply creased in her face and I could see it in the dark. Her son. She’d lost him. Not in a physical way. ..it was in a heart wrenching, ‘my son is lost and he’s so far gone I can’t get him back’ kind of way.

Think you’ve messed things up for your children past the point of no return? Think they’re so far down a path you’ll never be able to turn them back around?? If you’re a mother and you’re sick with the guilt and the anguish that comes from yearning for a missing child’s heart to be restored. For them to get back in this game called life. To see them as they once were with joy and a bright future ahead of them..?

Let’s re-visit a similar story. Where a mother was so desperate to get her daughter back, she stalked our Savior. She begged for mercy. Pleaded for His listening ear. And she Did.Not.Give.Up.

“Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”

The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.
Matthew 15:21-28

Your children are never so far out of reach that God can’t get to them. Never.
