Do you all remember this book? It’s one I had in my little wooden bookcase growing up. Depending on life’s unfolding stories on any given day..I mentally label those moments with book titles. (Any one else think in book titles?!🙋🏻♀️) When we were told that all of this for Ben began from a tiny antibody that was within the flu virus.. this was the book title that came to mind. I’d like to think the brainstem-eating antibody was as cute as a Dr. Seuss illustration..but even MY forgiving spirit has it’s limitations😉 Lol
Day 37 has found Ben doing very well! He continues to enjoy the sunshine and getting to be outdoors. ..those eyes that weren’t supposed to be working, are keen enough to shoot a rodent-sized target in the dark, down at the little red barn where the chickens are. (And I’m praying he goes back every night and locates more because I DO NOT do mice!😬- STAY WAY OUT ON THE FARM YOU TINY LITTLE THINGS!!). ..it’s nice to be able to share just regular life. And if you are someone who’s caught in the uneventful, rat-race (no terrifying pun intended!), be blessed. Uneventful can be a glorious word. I’m not any different than any one of you. ..however, I know to Whom I belong..and THAT is what keeps me steady. I’ve read your sweet posts to us. Each day I didn’t know what would be coming our way, but for many years way before all of this (and I pray it’ll be this way for as long as I draw a breath).. I wake up EXPECTANTLY. Ready to see the Lord’s hand move. Some days it’s in powerful awe-inspiring miracles..and some days it finds me picking turkey feathers out of the front grill of our dinted vehicle..but looking to the Lord and seeing Him move among the everyday, uneventful, lives of His people..THAT my sweet friends..is never dark😇 May we ALL begin each morning with these powerful attitude-adjusting words.. “Lord, will I see YOU today..?” #FocusOnTheLIGHT #expect #jesus #hope #always #gripandgrace
“Ben in a Billion” got a GOD-SIZED report today and I’ve got the pictures to prove it!❤️❤️ It’s usually the LIGHT we pray for to drive out darkness.. but in Ben’s case we needed to pray for the dark..and that my faith family, is just what we received!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼 The lesions on Ben’s brainstem are drastically different. And I say DRASTICALLY, because this amount of healing has been extremely quick and precise! Our test day yesterday began with Ben being told he had a brain blockage behind his right eye. They shared this before that VEP test had even been done. Today, however, the test showed NEGATIVE. Ben’s sight and optic nerves are ALL working as they should with NO signs of ANY blockages and the demyelination of his brainstem is all but nearly GONE!!
🙏🏼 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 There was an event that happened many years ago. Around this very time of day. The Son of God was crucified and placed in a tomb..and all the world went dark. But just as Easter is approaching, our Lord was raised from the dead and gave ALL OF US a reason to rejoice! When things can look their hardest to you, remember that the God of heaven may just very well be getting STARTED...👊🏼 Thankfulness for the prayers you’ve prayed..❤️ Ben continues to fight and we’ll still undergo another 4 hour MRI in three months, as well as continue some treatments and therapy.. but TODAY. Today we remember to say “thank you” to the One who holds us all.. ‘..and on Day 33, she rested..”🙏🏼

Update on our sweet Ben..
Monday, March 25th is drawing near. This day was planned before we even left the hospital. A scan. A very long and grueling one. Vanderbilt blocked off their MRI machine just for Ben. He will lay in it for four hours from 1:00pm-5:00pm as they try and get new images of his brainstem and spinal cord. What wasn’t planned at the time was their new possible diagnosis of something called NMO. -Don’t look it up. The life expectancy pops up and no parent should have to see that. Ever. *What I hear depends upon my spiritual attitude. -it always has.
My God excels against very great odds. I know what Vanderbilt has said. I know what they’re eagerly expecting to find. Ben’s case has been “fascinating, impressive and complex”. All great words unless they’re being used to describe the medical condition of your child. Here’s the thing.. the book of Isaiah says,
WHEN. GOD. TAKES. ACTION. THE. MOUNTAINS. SHAKE.
So far we’ve witnessed nothing but miracles in Ben’s illness. He breathes..when he should not. He talks..when he should not. He stands..when he should not. He walks and laughs..when he should not. And he SEES..when he should not. It feels like a year in my realm..but Monday marks only Day 32. In the brainstem world that isn’t a lot of time for healing to have taken place. HOWEVER, our prayers are that when Ben shows up for the two hurdles now placed before him..our GOD will continue to show out🙏🏼 Monday:
10:30AM -VEP test for NMO
1:00PM-5:00PM - MRI
Prayers that these tests and scans will not only ‘fascinate & impress’, but that God’s glory and Mighty hand will continue to firmly grip the body and spirit of our Ben🙏🏼 In the meantime..we can all turn to Isaiah 64 and set our worries against those first five verses of Hope💪🏼 #FocusOnTheLIGHT
Love to you all~
